Personality & Powers

Asmundis would be the most solitary of the Celestial siblings. He is the youngest brother to Solis, Helios and Lemuria but this is often forgotten as Solis cast him away, unable to tolerate his appearance. He was the first of the divines to set foot on the mortal plane, blessing Isilendor with flora and fauna, after. He is a gentle being despite his divine power, and turned away from the mortal plane due to the violent ways of the new races that arrived in the world. Asmundis retreated to a realm of his own creation, known as the Evergreen, where he only kept the company of animals.

Some could say Asmundis is the most powerful of the divines if he chose to fully wield his abilities. He is the Father of time, originally ensuring that Tenebria worked with his siblings to create the perfect day/night cycles. While Tenebria lords over death, Asmundis compliments this ability by blessing the burials. Though Asmundis dislikes the Night God's tendency to play with the undead. He prefers the dead stay that way and become part of the earth, a life or death cycle just as beautiful as the turn of the sunsets.

History & Events

There was Tenebria first, followed by the suns Solis and Helios. Soon after came Lemuria, the moon. Many forget the youngest sibling Asmundis born among them, turning the first hourglass. His appearance resembled components we now find on the earth: flesh like bark, a deer skull for a head. Solis could not stand this, considering his brother hideous and unwelcome among the skies. Asmundis was cast down to the mortal plane by the Sun God, forced to wander the world for eternity. It is said, this act and his presence was what generated vegetation and life. There are rumours of the early settlers witnessing Asmundis plant flowers and trees, dubbing him the Father of the Earth and The Leshen Lord of the Forest.

As mortals grew in numbers, so did their penchant for violence. Asmundis felt pain to witness their horrific acts and began to distrust them. The mortals cut down trees for their towns and cities, slaughtered his creatures and even each other. Their actions instilled a terror inside him and the Great War caused him to flee to a dimension of his own creation, The Evergreen. This was his solitude, his Endless Forest where no mortal or divine could enter.

The name Asmundis was largely forgotten for many years though people still heard of his existence. Some thought they witnessed him in the forests of Braitheld, among the more hostile Leshen who protect them. He commanded deer in the mortal plane to be his eyes and ears but none were aware of these unsuspecting creatures. There are also a rare form of mages known as Chronomancers who were gifted with time magic.

During the disappearance of Solis in 0009 NE, there was much need for Asmundis in the world once more. Tenebria did not possess the gifts required to keep the southern lands alive with vegetation and creatures. The Northern Sun, Helios recruited brave volunteers who would travel to the Evergreen in search of The Leshen Lord. They could not enter in their mortal forms, however, so they became Therians, animal shapeshifters that could grace his plain. Anyone who tried to force their way in were cursed into a creature chosen by the dimension.

The adventurers succeeded in seeking out Asmundis but it took some convincing for him to return to Isilendor. His distrust of the mortal plane ran deep but he held a soft spot for their pleas and the world that was fading without Solis. Asmundis emerged upon the mortal plane, lending his power to the southern lands which began to flourish once more under Tenebria's ruling. Unfortunately, this deed required the sacrifice of Asmunids, who scattered parts of himself across Isilendor. A funeral was held in his honour.

It is unclear whether or not a divine can truly perish but Helios and Tenebria have teamed up to find answers, and maybe one day restore Asmundis back to the world. Only time will tell.
