Medieval Fantasy RPG

In every medieval fantasy RPG (Role-Playing Game) there are character styles that people go crazy for. Here we will explore some of our favourites which you might recognise across most medieval fantasy online games that you’ve enjoyed.
If you don’t recognise any, well this is a great opportunity to see the options you might try out for your own characters here on World of Legends (WoL).

The Warrior

Warriors are a classic for medieval fantasy RPGs. They are a versatile style for beginners and veterans alike. A warrior is typically found with melee weapons, quite often one-handed or two-handed swords. Many warriors show up in heavy plated armour and shields to defend themselves. Here on World of Legends, The Blacksmith is the best friend for the warrior style.
Warriors' oath driven counterparts are known as paladins.

The Rogue

A medieval fantasy online game is incomplete without Rogues. Rogues are known for their stealth and sleight of hand, able to sneak up on enemies and pick locks or pockets without being detected.
Thieves, assassins, pirates and arcane tricksters are just some of the versions of rogues one can find in medieval fantasy games. They are the masters of lies and deception, often slipping passed the boundaries of society.

The Minstrel

A musician, a singer, a charmer. Bards and Minstrels are the charismatic ones of the medieval fantasy genre. On WoL, the Bard is so coveted it has its own orange-pink coloured role, working for the Palatable Weekly if they so desire.
Bards are a favourite for their ability to give courage and strength via the power of song, convince enemies to drop their guard with a word and seduce anyone or anything that crosses their path.

The Mage

Magic is a strong factor in the majority of medieval fantasy games. Every world has their own mechanics and characters that use magic. Our world, Isilendor, holds 3 distinct categories of magic; the Arcane Arts, Divine Arts and Dark Arts. Mages come in many different styles. There is the academic wizard, the naturally talented sorcerers, the religiously inclined clerics and the nature bound druids to name a few. Your medieval fantasy journey is enriched by magic.

The Barbarian

Barbarians are the reckless fighters of medieval fantasy RPGs. They are usually found wielding large two-handed battle axes or swords and sporting light armour. Barbarians are fuelled by rage and jump head on into battle. You might even want to find yourself a battle cry to fully immerse yourself in this playstyle.
While Barbarians are known for their fighting capabilities, they are regularly soft hearted and sometimes soft of mind. Everyday worries are not as much of a concern as long as they can eat, love and fight.

The Ranger

Also thought of as the archer class, Rangers know the world well and have a keen eye with a bow. Known for their survival skills, rangers can befriend animals and are a hardy addition to your adventuring party in medieval fantasy RPGs. Rangers are rarely seen without a bow or set of arrows, and helpful in a fray. Many rangers are skilled with cooking, tracking and have been known to take eye witness accounts from the squirrels and rabbits of the area.

The Commoner/Tradespeople

In every medieval fantasy RPG, there are the common folk. The people that drive business and society in the world. Barkeepers, blacksmiths, alchemists, millers, farmers and so on. Isilendor would be lost without them. There is charm in playing these uniquely skilled characters. Not everyone is suited to sword wielding and magic casting.
