Mages

come in all types and skill levels, with some inspiration from Dungeons and Dragons. World of Legends offer a unique mix of types of mages.

Mages in Dungeons and Dragons

Within DnD 5E,

mage

s spend their lives in the study and practice. Good-aligned mages offer counsel to nobles, and others in power, while evil mages tend to dwell in isolated sites to perform unspeakable experiments without interference.

Mages Traits

Spellcasting:
The

mages

is a 9th-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Intelligence (spell save DC 14, +6 to hit with spell attacks).
The mage has the following wizard spells prepared:

- Cantrips (at will): fire bolt, light, mage hand, prestidigitation

- 1st level (4 slots): detect magic, mage armour, magic missile, shield

- 2nd level (3 slots): misty step, suggestion

- 3rd level (3 slots): counter-spell, fireball, fly

- 4th level (3 slots): greater invisibility, ice storm

- 5th level (1 slot): cone of cold

Mage Actions

Dagger:
Melee or Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 20/60 ft., one target.
Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) piercing damage.

Mages in World of Legends

Many mages first develop their skills in the arcane, and while some branch off into healers, diviners and the darker arts, there are those who become known for their arcane specialties.

Types of Mages in WoL

Mage - A general term for a magic practitioner of no specific skill

Sorcerer/Sorceress - A term often related to a very powerful magic user, with vast knowledge in the arcane. Sorcerers tend to carry natural strength in magic that can be harnessed more easily.

Wizard - A scholarly mage, focused on the use of books and tools for their magical practice. They are generally of high skill in arcane and known for their wisdom.

Warlock/Witch - These terms have evil connotations, usually linked to dark magic, superstitions and curse magic.

Pyromancer - A mage gifted with the element of fire. They can be skilled in other areas but they are renowned for their unique control of fire.

Hydromancer - A mage gifted with the element of water. They can be skilled in other areas but they are renowned for their unique control of water.

Aeromancer - A mage gifted with the element of air. They can be skilled in other areas but they are renowned for their unique control of air.

Geomancer - A mage gifted with the element of earth. They can be skilled in other areas but they are renowned for their unique control of earth.

Electromancer - A mage gifted with the element of lightning. They can be skilled in other areas but they are renowned for their unique control of lightning.

Elementalist - A mage gifted with the power of the elements. They are known for having strong control over all elements.

Cryomancer - A mage skilled with both water and air elements in order to control and create ice.

Storm Mage - A mage skilled with both lightning and air elements, able to gain some control over the weather to create storms. This can include tornados, lightning storms and thunder.

Spellsword - This is a magic user also skilled with a blade, able to combine magic and melee combat in battle.

Abjurer - A mage skilled in protection magic, able to cast wards and defend against attack with ease.

Conjurer - A mage skilled in conjuration magic, able to pull objects from seemingly thin air with ease.

Battlemage - A mage that uses their magical gifts for battle and war.

Court Mage - Kings, Queens and those of noble birth can sometimes be seen in the presence of a court mage, a magical practitioner hired for their services.

Diviner - A mage skilled in the Divine Arts.

Dark Mages - Frowned upon by most Arcane mages, Dark Mages are skilled in the Dark Arts.

Arch Mage - The title of a mage who is generally known as the leader of a guild or organised magical group.
