"Defenders of nature and militant sect of travellers. Also, provide rituals for those who believe in the ancient spirits and gods of the forest. Largely spiritual leaders, the wandering

Dungeons and Dragons Druid

The

Druid

is a popular class of the tabletop game, Dungeons and Dragons, also featuring in the video game adaptations. Druids are equally in favour of nature and often honour the nature god Silvanus or equivalent deities. Druidic magic is unique in that it's largely based on natural phenomena, including the use of weather magic like Sleet Storm. All Druids can use the spell Wild Shape to transform into animals or fantasy beings including owlbears and elementals. Some druids can even transform into dinosaurs.

Druid

have their own language that they can understand, helping to unlock hidden Druidic messages. Their stats are focused on intelligence and Wisdom, with a choice of skill from the following options:
Arcana, Animal Handling, Insight, Medicine, Nature, Perception, Religion, and Survival
A druid of very high level can become Archdruid and can use their wild shape quite freely.

Druids can be part of a Circle of the Land; a group of druids that form sacred circles or groves around trees and standing stones. The basic Land Circles are desert, forest, grassland, mountain, swamp, coast and arctic. The Underdark is a rare outlier.

Celtic Druid Mythology

Druid

s feature heavily in ancient Celtic history and mythology. They were more educated members of Celtic tribes, acting as teachers, priests and judges. Druids appear in accounts across the Celtic regions including Scotland, Old England, Wales, Gaul and Ireland and existed around 25,000 years ago Druids were highly respected and followed philosophy and astrology to understand the world around them.

There remains strong support of Celtic Druids in Ireland even today, with many celebrations across the country honouring the Celtic history. Newgrange is a tomb with a passage lit only on the winter solstice. Bonfires are lit every May to greet the summer in the festival of Bealtaine. Samhain, or Halloween, is celebrated globally.

It is believed that Druids could perform magic, often in the form of protection or healing. They feature in various stories of Celtic mythology, seen advising or warning members of the community.
