Magical Masters:

Aeromancer

What is an Aeromancer?

An

Aeromancer

is a type of magic user that is more experienced or specialised with air based magic. This mage primarily uses air magic, their spell casting and their natural elemental affinity is air. This does not mean they are limited to air but that they are more recognised for their skill with air magic.

The title of

Aeromancer

is often appointed by other people, when recognising a mage for their skill with air magic. The Mage's Manse and the Arcana Arena both recognise Aeromancers and encourage them to educate other air mages.

Variations of Aeromancer:

As

Aeromancer

s become more advanced in their skills, they can combine air with other areas of magic or become even more specialised to a particular area of aeromancy.

Storm Mage - Since an Aeromancer is naturally gifted with air, they can manipulate the wind in the environment around them. Particularly strong Aeromancers may generate intense wind storms and combine with lightning magic to form thunder storms.

Windwalkers - Aeromancers don't officially fly but with the aid of air magic, can manipulate air resistance or project air to create the illusion of flight, run incredible speeds and soften falls.

Frost Mage - Aeromancers can be quite diverse, with the potential to lower wind temperatures for a frosty atmosphere. Combined with water, they can verge into Cryomancy, the power of ice.

Astral Projection - While the Divine Arts focuses on illusions of the mind, aeromancy has the potential to be wielded to form illusions by manipulating the air in front of others. They can project false images, send voices through the wind and even enhance vision. Some can even refract air to create rainbows.

The Magic of Air

Practitioners of air magic are widely considered to be the most agile of mages. Air can be used to enhance the speed of the caster, slash air jets at a target or conjure of harsh wind storms. In the Eldalair tongue, air is known as Alderis and can be strengthened with this word if known. Aeromancers can be temperamental people, stealthy, agile and unpredictable. They can be gentle as a breeze or a force to be reckoned with. Due to the versatility of air, aeromancers can more easily dip into other elements, not always controlling them but can at least influence them. Air can churn up earth into sand, freeze water or collide with fire to generate sparks. It is not uncommon to find Aeromancers in Eldathren, though it can be said that Eldathren was the first to harness any of the elements. It is more difficult to produce air magic underground and in deep water. Open air planes give aeromancers an advantage. A mysterious entity named Airi favours the air and the winds, some say her presence consists of the surviving Sylphs.
