Noted in theology and mythology, the Leviathan is a sea serpent demon, referenced in several books of the Hebrew Bible. The Leviathan is often an embodiment of chaos, known to threaten to eat the damned when their lives are over.
The Great Lake of Braitheld, also called Lake Lin, is a lake so big it could be considered like a small fresh water sea. Clearly, such a big body of water will have its own habitat, its own creatures and many, many mysteries. One of the most known legends that surrounds this lake is the legend of the Leviathan. While the majority of the creatures I wrote about in this book I truly believe exist and roam this word, this very special dragon is… something else.
The Leviathan is always described as a gargantuan creature with no wings nor limbs, only a very long body of unknown colour and a menacing dragon head. It is said that this creature sleeps on the bed of the Lake, in its center, where the lake is so deep no one really has explored it. The dragon slept there for centuries and millennia, and it is said to only resurface from its slumber to cause mayhem on Braitheld during very dark times. In fact, there are legends and tales about its appearance during times of horrendous war, environmental catastrophes or very unusual magical situations. The last known “sighting” of this creature was around 1000 years ago, during the long war, where it is said to have destroyed an entire army, only to then return to its slumber. The creature is believed to have incredible magical abilities, especially elemental magic, which makes its destructive power even worse.
If the legends are true and this is indeed an ancient and gargantuan creature that awakes in dire times every millennia, the Leviathan could very well be one of the original dragons that reached Isilendor’ While it is a possibility, it is more likely that there is a very sparse population of water dragons in the lake, similar to the King of Storm in the sea of Akasuna, that reappears on the surface when a great disturbance hits the water. To know where the truth lies, we need to study the issue much closer than any Beast Expert has ever dared to do.
Also known as the 'Guardian of the Ocean', the Leviathan is a mythical creature bound to the high seas. The first of its kind was brought forth into being by the Goddess Lorelei and henceforth remained ever faithful until its untimely demise. Only a handful now remain in this world and are considered a most prized rarity. A Leviathan will more often than not bond with the first person they see, especially whilst young, and much like their ancestor, will defend their chosen companion until death.
In the year 0017NE, Tenebria had come down to the mortals of Isilendor, and asked them to help him find his daughter Lorelei, whom had gone missing. Those that did encountered a Leviathan. They fought valiantly and few managed to attract the attention of much smaller versions of the creature. Soon having them as familiars.
