About Dark Arts
Stepping into the darkness is ill advised and often forbidden by many magical communities. However, there are those that master the
Dark Arts
and some are even happy to teach it. You must be a high ranking mage to consider pursuing the
Dark Arts
. Master
Dorian Lucine only accepts Heroes and Legends as apprentices of the Dark Arts.
Approach with caution. The darkness can become all consuming..
At the end of the course you will earn the chance to certify as a Master in Dark Arts.
Items for Dark Arts
If you have a Certificate in Dark Arts, this can be claimed in a loadout during plot combat. Your dice rolls will become boosted by the certificate. A collection of dark items can be found in
The Black Market, though not all are a result of the Dark Arts. We also have a number of status items available to win or purchase (in
The Collector). Here is a sample list of dark artefacts that possess elements of Dark Magic enchantments
Note: (
Dark Arts
has not been fully implemented for dice combat yet but is expected to be introduced at a later stage):
Hellraiser - A truly deplorable weapon, the Hellraiser is rumoured to have originated from a dark and disturbing ritual that required the sacrifice of a vengeful being, whose skull now serves as their ever-lasting prison. Although easily mistaken as a simple macabre accessory, the Hellraiser is anything but as the wielder has a 1% chance of draining the life of all who oppose them. There is no mercy to be found here.
Dual Nephrite Daggers - Nephrite is an immutable and highly indestructible substance that can not be shaped by the hands of mortals, which is what makes these pairs of daggers so fascinating. Forged upon Tenebria's Altar by the Night God Eternal himself within the Valley of the Despair, these pairs of dual daggers were specifically crafted for their owners, the disciples of Tenebria, who took it upon themselves to gather enough Nephrite Ore in service to their Dark Lord.
Adez K'orgaz - This two-handed battle-axe is imbued with magic from the runes carved into its very metal. If its name gives away any clues, Adez K'orgaz ('Blood of the Enemy') draws the power for its strong bond with its wielder from the enemies it fells. Wrapped in history and mystery, this axe is for the bold heart and strong mind.
Cloak of Tenebria - Discovered within the Valley of Despair, these lost cloaks of Tenebria, Lord of the Night, are the last remaining remnants of his blight upon the mortal plane during 0004.N.E. Do you dare to place it upon your shoulders? It is often whispered that if one wraps themselves within his shroud, he shall hide you wherever you go until morn.
Ender Bow - The Ender Bow is a mysterious relic of unknown origins that has continued to baffle scholars through the ages. Boasting the quickest draw of any longbow in existence, the Ender Bow is not only capable of firing in rapid succession but also hurtling projectiles at such speed they tear a hole through the fabric of reality. You heard me right. The arrows actually teleport! No one knows why such a strange phenomenon occurs, but it certainly makes it a hard weapon to dodge when, for half the distance, it does not even exist...
Witchblade - A blade like no other. Imbued with Arcane power it can cause most physical and magical wounds when wielded by those with the strength and knowledge to control it.
Counter the Dark Arts
Many people of Isilendor would prefer to avoid or protect against the Dark Arts. In many cases, pursuing Divine Arts and magical artefacts is a great way to counter effects of Dark Magic. A new weapon has been introduced during Lemuria's Winter Festival in order to nullify dark magic effects.:
Ivella ro Cinys - Ivella ro Cinys (meaning. 'River of Light) is a powerful ancient artefact gifted to the Goddess Lemuria by her twin brothers. Fearing the worst upon her declaration of love to Lord Tenebria, Solis and Helios crafted the Ivella ro Cinys in secret and presented it as a fan (the most inconspicuous object they could think of). It was by their decree no darkness would befall their most precious treasure.
Lord Tenebria's Remark
The great Lord Tenebria interjected to say this:
"To follow the darkness is a path of self sacrifice. You might unravel powers that bring a chill to your very soul… if your soul survives that is. There is much power to be gained here. You can become the one people fear.. a master of the forbidden. Maybe one day you could earn your place by my side."
