Dragons of Isilendor
There was once an abundance of
Dragon
s on the continent. It is uncertain where they originated from but there are theories that they came from lands beyonds, or were even a product of the gods. There are some that suggest strong connections between
Dragon
s and the Southern Sun deity, Solis. Dragons lived in Isilendor before mortals walked the lands. Most
Dragon
s of Isilendor had 2 large wings, 4 legs, and were as big as 20 metres long. It is suspected that humanoid creatures began the decline of Dragon kind. They settled in new environments, including the deep Akasuna desert, and open sea. Many Dragons today are smaller than their ancestors.
Dragon
Akasuna
Sand Dragon
A close relative of their ancient ancestors, the Sand Dragons are smaller, 4 legged Dragons with 2 wings. They bury themselves in the sands of the Akasuna desert which matches their yellow and rust coloured scales. Sand Dragons are untameable and are known to breath, and control fire.
Akashi Lindworm
The Lindworm is a subject of debate as to whether it can be considered a Dragon or not. They have 2 legs, a long body and no wings. It is theorised that they taught mortals how to speak and write.
King of Storms
A sea based Dragon, found beyond the coast of Akasuna. Reports say it has no limbs at all. It is one of the rarer species. The King of Storms has scales the colour of a stormy ocean and is said to be able to levitate above the water during thunderstorms.
Glass Dragon
The Glass Dragon only has 2 recorded sightings so there are many questions about its existence. The Dragon gets their name from the reported translucent wings and iridescent scales.
Dragon
Braitheld
Breithir
The most common species of Dragon in Isilendor, with its home primarily in the Caeraig Mountains. Breithir are only 5 metres in length, including the tail. They have 4 limbs and 2 wings. Their scales are bronze-to-brown making ideal camouflage for the mountain caves they live in.
Leviathan
Leviathans are a rarely seen, gargantuan, serpent-like beast said to live at the bottom of Lake Lin. It is said the Leviathan slept for 1000 years before emerging to destroy an army during the Great War and hasn't been seen since.
The Lake Lin Leviathan is not the same as Lorelei's Leviathan, her sea beast that protected the Chantry.
Hydra
Lake Lin is also home to the Hydra, a draconic beast at the northern part of the Lake. They have 4 limbs and no wings, with multiple necks and heads. Hydra can be found both on land and underwater but are rarely seen anymore.
Polyxo
Polyxo Dragons are found in the Fortress of Ra'lena in the foothills of the Caeraig Mountains. Polyxo are huge dragons with blue scales. They can spit ice when threatened but are known to interact peacefully with mortals.
Shadow of Hellis
Also known as Ky'sa, this Dragon invaded a once prosperous pirate cove in the north east. Ky'sa resemble Breithirs but with black scales and are thought to have migrated from the Caeraig Mountains. The Shadow of Hellis typically feeds off mortals whose ships wash into the cove during storms.
Qeffa
The Qeffa are enormous, green dragons found in the woodlands of Petri. These are considered to be the largest of all beasts in Isilendor, and many believe this is an ancient dragon species. They are surprisingly peaceful Dragons, sleeping often. Qeffa possesses strong magical powers.
Dragon
Delvheim
Ice Dragon
A rarely seen Dragon, reported as one of the largest Dragons, though rare to witness. They stay on the tall, snowy peaks of Delvheim and their blinding white scales make them blend into the snow. As the name suggests, Ice Dragons also breathe ice instead of fire.
Lord of the Abyss
It is not certain whether the Lord of the Abyss actually exists outside of legends. It is of gargantuan size with no wings or limbs. The creature is believed to sleep in an underground lake far beneath the mountains. If it does wake, it will destroy Delvheim in an effort to get to the surface.
Cave Dragon
The Cave Dragon is commonly found in Delvheim, with no wings and 4 limbs, burrowing through the mountain tunnels. They are understood to be blind from life underground, and grow crystals on their bodies.
Dragon
Eldathren
Thexylessa
Thexylessa live on the island of Romaris, and are the largest of the Eldathren dragons. It is powerful and resembles the shape of ancient dragons. Thexylessa Dragons is one of the more peaceful dragons, not harming any citizens of the island.
Illysur
Illysur are found in the dark forests of the main island. They are a stunning green colour but are extremely temperamental due to conflicts with the local elves. Eldathren rulers have forbidden interacting with this Dragon for the safety of the citizens.
Petya Dragon
A tiny Dragon with beautiful colours and patterns. Their wings almost resemble butterfly wings, which lends to their name. Petya means Butterfly in Eldalair. They grow no bigger than a house cat.
Pygmy Dragon
A small Dragon that some folk keep as pets. They are a little bigger than Petya Dragons and believed to be a result of dwarfism in dragons. There are 4 distinct varieties of Pygmy Dragons which can be purchased from the Beast Tamer.
