Teleportation
is essentially moving from one place to another instantly, without travelling the distance between. Think of it like, you are in India and you suddenly in an instant are in the United Kingdom. It’s a popular concept in science fiction and fantasy books and films; often being linked to time travel as we don’t know how long the ‘trip’ takes. Similar ideas show up in parapsychology and spiritualism, but these have no scientific base.
Unfortunately for us, scientists have yet to discover on how to make real-life teleportation happen yet. While there is something called Quantum Teleportation, it only focuses on moving tiny pieces of information, not while people or objects.
Teleportation on World of Legends
Teleportation Spell
On World of Legends, there are a variety of ways one could teleport. It is popular among highly skilled mages. The ability of teleportation extends to objects or people and they can transported to or from the area. The spell itself is best described with the following extract from A Guide to Arcane Magic:
Description: Teleports an object or a person. Should not be confused with Divine Summoning due to two major differences. First of all, Divine Summoning requires its users to mark the object that they are going to summon. Secondly, it can only summon other objects to its location. It can’t be used to send objects away; that is something only Teleportation can do, as it is used to send things away. So the main difference lies in the direction of these two spells.
Incantation: Soceilis, Marae, Akiria (Whirlwind, Movement, Space)
Required Rank: Dreamweaver
The spell itself is mainly accomplished at shorter distances, usually within a single realm, though the mage has to have been to the place they are teleporting to and the distance travelled purely depends on the size of the object or person and their magical strength. Some mages at a Legend rank have the ability to teleport from the south of Braitheld to the northern border. It is, however rare.
Teleportation Using Portals
It is also possible to teleport using portals, with the combination of Arcane magic and Enchantments. All one would need to do is gain carefully crafted teleportation runes and citrine crystals. With these, mages can open a portal and travel further distances. However, it needs high concentrations of magic and the mage has to have been to the location they want to travel to prior and to add to that there must be 2 Teleportation runes on the ground far enough for someone to walk between them. Citrine Crystals are then placed onto each rune, and with the same incantation as the spell above, they can activate a portal, creating a small doorway to the destination. To close the portal, the crystals must be retrieved and runes removed on the other side.
Portals can be created with a combination of Arcane magic and Enchantments. By carefully crafting Teleportation runes and using Citrine crystals, mages can open portals and travel long distances. These are only successful with high concentrations of magic and if the mage has been to the location before. They are required to place 2 Teleportation runes on the ground, far enough apart for a person to walk between them. Citrine crystals are placed onto each rune. The Teleportation incantation is then recited as follows: Soceilis, Marae, Akiria. A small doorway to the destination appears. On the other side, the crystals must be retrieved and the runes removed to close the portal.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
DO NOT LEAVE PORTALS OPEN! It can cause damage to the land and also put people at risk!
Legends are more successful when it comes to opening a portal.

The Harry Potter Franchise: Apparition
In the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Apparition was a form of magical transportation; the user would travel instantly from one location to another. This was accomplished by having the user focus on a desired location in their mind and then purposefully disappearing from where they were, to reappear at the desired location. In this universe, apparition was the fastest and most convenient way for wizards and witches to travel, but it was very hard to pull off correctly and can be disastrous if botched.
The Witcher
In The Witcher, Teleportation is achieved with either a magic spell or using facilitating objects. For example, like with World of Legends, portals are teleportation devices or passages. Although, there are many individuals, like Geralt, who perceive teleportation as dangerous. Not without reason though, if you consider the risk of potentially missing body parts. The teleportation itself is risky as it’s done through a strange realm where time, heat, light and matter do not exist. Creatures from material plane trapped here are scarred and if they remain there for too long can go insane. If one gets lost in that strange realm, it is extremely hard to bring them back - only certain practitioners such as Krepp, claim they can try.
