An Introduction

Enchanting can be described as taking mana or magical energy and fusing it into an item through focus, ritual, and intention. It is an ancient practice, discovered through the combined efforts of elves and dwarves. On World of Legends, you can purchase or win enchanted items through special events. The art of enchanting is taught by Jorg Farwynn after you have completed 5 ranks of Blacksmithing. Understanding blacksmithing and magic is important for learning how to enchant an object.

The Discovery

the Witchblade - Imbued with Arcane power it can cause most physical and magical wounds when wielded by those with the strength and knowledge to control it.
Eldathren and Delvheim remained quite separate for the first few hundred years of their growing kingdoms. The elves of the Eldathren woodlands were masters of the arcane, gifted them by nature itself. Under the mountains, the dwarves became experts at moulding metal and gems to their hammer and chisel. When the 2 nations finally introduced themselves, they traded knowledge of their skills. Through this shared experience, they soon learned they could combine magic with blacksmithing and imbue weapons or armour with magical properties.

Rune markings carved onto the object are an important step to branding it with the required spell. However, the more runes drawn, the more skill it required to stabilise the magic within.

The discovery of gemstones in Delvheim lended to this new skill as they found magic alone was too temporary for efficient enchantments. However, when a gemstone was fused with the object, it could lend an extra charge. Clear quartz crystals could be used almost like a rechargeable battery for the given magic type, while other more precious stones boosted the powers of specific magic types.


Inspiration

World of Legends takes inspiration from many fantasy stories or video games that incorporate enchanting. Minecraft, Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age, Diablo, Dungeons & Dragons, The Witcher, World of Warcraft and much more. The concept is very prominent within the medieval fantasy genre.
