About Melee Combat

When you think of Melee Combat, you more than likely will consider a sword. There is much more to it. Not only is there a range of weapons; mace, axe, bo staff, scythe, lance... but there is also the consideration of shields, armour and what to do if you have no weapon on hand. What then?

By attending these lessons you will not only learn how to fight, but also how to defend against an attack... and, when it's time to retreat. You better come prepared.

At the end of the course you will be able to acquire theMelee Combat Mastery Certificate.
This certificate adds bonus attack points to Melee Attacks during combat events.

Task: Roll for Melee Combat

Complete ONE Melee Combat assignment using ONE of the below prompts.
However, you cannot choose the prompt.
Message Victariah Rauxilfen who will roll a 20-sided dice (d20). The result will determine your prompt.

  1. You somehow manage to impale yourself on your own weapon. Nice.
  2. Your weapon slips from your grip and skids across the training yard. The entire class watches in stunned silence.
  3. You overcommit to a powerful strike and lose your footing, ending up flat on your back.
  4. Another student manages to stab you in the arse cheek. Ouch!
  5. Your guard is completely open. The Skill Master taps three vulnerable points with a wooden practice sword before you can recover.
  6. When trying to intimidate your classmate you only scare yourself.
  7. Fear or hesitation slows your movements. Your opponent easily dictates the pace.
  8. The Skill Master gives you the wrong sized weapon. It's too heavy. You spend the lesson struggling.
  9. You defend yourself but never seize the initiative. The exercise ends in a stalemate.
  10. You survive the exchange but suffer several light training strikes.
  11. You successfully block a strike but miss the obvious counterattack.
  12. You maintain solid footwork and keep your balance throughout the duel.
  13. You trade several clean blows with your opponent. Neither combatant gains the upper hand.
  14. You recognize your opponent's fighting style and begin adapting.
  15. You execute the assigned technique correctly after an earlier mistake. Confidence begins to replace uncertainty.
  16. Your defense is nearly flawless. Every strike is turned aside with calm precision. How did you remain focused under pressure?
  17. You anticipate your opponent's attack before it begins and counter elegantly. The class murmurs in approval.
  18. You perform a combination of strikes and parries so smoothly that even experienced students take notes.
  19. You disarm your opponent without causing injury.
  20. You defeat every other being alive in melee combat. You are the ultimate melee combat warrior. The Overseer even gives you a medal.
