The Isilendor Calendar

World of Legends is set in the continent of Isilendor and operates on its own calendar. As this blog is posted, we are in the 34th year of the New Era (NE) and the month of Maeveth. This is the last month of spring so expect the weather to significantly shift across the 4 realms.
There are 5000 years of recorded history from the Old Era (OE) and World of Legends launched in the first year of the New Era. The New Era is marked by the peace treaty signed between the 4 realms after an 800 year old war.

There are 11 months in the year on the Isilendor calendar, with each month being marked by a real life week (Monday to Sunday).

Months of the Year

In Isilendor, the year starts and ends in Winter and the months go as follows:
  • Week 1: Macharoth (Winter)
  • Week 2: Verglacia (Winter)
  • Week 3: Eostren (Spring)
  • Week 4: Euri (Spring)
  • Week 5: Maeveth (Spring)
  • Week 6: Eldasun (Summer)
  • Week 7: Garna (Summer)
  • Week 8: Airmidoth (Summer)
  • Week 9: Rhidan (Autumn/Fall)
  • Week 10: Tephir (Autumn/Fall)
  • Week 11: Neve (Winter)
There is an elemental horoscope associated with the time of the year, determined by the positioning of the stars and planets. This can be reviewed in the books The Elemental Horoscope and Book of Astrology: Volume I.

Seasons of the Year

Each realm of Isilendor observes 4 seasons of the year however they each experience the seasons differently.
  • Eldathren: The islands are part of a tropical, oceanic belt. The main island and lesser islands are subject to frequent rainfall which becomes more harsh during winter. It is very rare to witness snow or frost on the islands. Mainland Eldathren becomes colder and more temperate in the north.
  • Delvheim: Some joke that Delvheim never sees the sun. The mountain range is prone to severe cold for a large portion of the year. The tallest mountains often feature snow caps even in summer. Summer months bring harsh storms and intense humidity. The eastern border is vulnerable to the desert heat from Akasuna. Heavy rain and aggressive winds attack the west coast.
  • Akasuna: The majority of Akasuna is coated in desert sands but the weather is far more changeable than one might expect. Many folks migrate from the desert during the summer months when the intense heat arises, however the nights are bitter cold due to the dry air. Winter sees a drop in temperatures but only those familiar with the realm would notice the difference. The mildest weather is to the south, in a savannah on the border to Braitheld.
  • Braitheld: Braitheld is possibly the only realm that really experiences 4 traditional seasons. They will see snow and increased rain in the winter, mild, flowering springs, hot summers and brown leaves in the autumn. Certain areas of the realm experience the seasons differently than others. The northern border remains hot from the Akasuna desert, and the Caeraig mountains are harsh and cold for longer periods of the year. As we travel south, Braitheld sees greater rainfall and more humid air.
