Aldrizir
The Aldrizir, or fire salamander, is a small creature that can only be found in a small region northeast of Delvheim, the Upperlands. This region hosts the biggest and most active volcano of the continent, and as such the aldrizir has learnt to adapt to this extremely hot and toxic environment.
At a first glance, aldrizirs may look similar to regular salamanders for size and shape, but they also appear to be made out of pure lava. While very little is known of their biology, aldrizirs lay eggs that look like precious gems. These eggs can survive for centuries and will be able to hatch only if placed in liquid hot lava.
Aldrizir are considered to be magical creatures and for centuries, before the discovery of their eggs, were believed to be born from the fire itself, equating them to fire elementals. Nowadays, we know this is incorrect, but we are still unsure on many aspects of their life, such as lifespan or even their diet.

In the past, many have tried to keep them as pets and curiosities, but unless incredibly powerful magical wards are used around them, aldrizirs will set fire to whatever they come in contact with and are hot enough to even melt the sturdiest of metals, thus making their safe transportation an incredibly complicated affair. Moreover, even when the relocation of a fire salamander was a success, these creatures are known to wither and die in a few weeks if they are kept far from the heat and lava of the Upperlands volcanoes.
