Description

Coastal cities of Braitheld are ripe with communities of mages, both small and large, working on behalf of the shiplords and acting as mercenaries. The most popular training ground for aspiring battle mages was founded before The Great War and is now known as the Arcana Arena. Situated near the south eastern point of Lake Lin, the arena came to exist due to young Braitheld mages wishing to formally train in the Arcane Arts. Some of the Catakai would have even started their training here. Word of the arena travelled throughout the realms over the years and now it stands in high regard for those wanting to prepare to wield their magic in battle.

Features

There are a number of significant features within the Arcana Arena to accommodate those practicing magic combat.

Amphitheatre

A large, central amphitheatre is the main focus of the Arcana Arena. The faculty buildings each have a connecting path that leads to the amphitheatre. The amphitheatre can be magically customised for different combat strategies including smaller duelling spaces and obstacles. Combat training includes duelling, target practice and team battles.

Alchemy Labs

Alchemy Labs are provided to practice brewing potions, or preparing potions that will assist with combat.

Library

The Arcana Arena has a library for studying spells and techniques.

Accomodation

There is a kitchen and sleeping quarters in the Arcana Arena. They are used by mages who attend for long term magic studies.

Members & Hierarchy

The Arcana Arena is led by an Arch Mage, primarily to keep the facilities in check. Frequent attendees and tutors eventually earn the reputation of Battlemage. New joiners are typically dubbed Novice mages. Active members can be provided with battlemage robes, equipped with a belt for potions and weapons.
